The Best of Everything

South End Of
Wonderland Shopping Center

PEOPLE ARE CALL-
ING it "the new Darlin'
Lilly's" . . . on Orchard Lake
Road between 12 and 13
Mile . . . There's a good rea-
son because now it isn't just
a watering spot with some
good entertainment and a
snack-type menu . . . Folks
can eat to their hearts' con-
tent . . . with a lot of goodies
... while the finest avail-
abl
e entertainment is on
hand for listening and danc-
ing delight.
Darlin' Lilly's, seating
225 in its dining room and
cocktail lounge, has a new
chef and new menu . . . with
the presentation of food an-
other big feature . . . The
chef, Tony Syrocki, doesn't
dwell on fanciness . . . his
main forte is good whole-
some dishes presented with
style . . . This our waitress
Lynn Kish certainly did .. .
smilingly efficient and po-
lite as she brought one of the
finest appetizers I've had in
a long time . . . called Chic-
ken Croquettes . . . strips of
chicken breast hand-
breaded, not overly so, in a
special bread crumb recipe
. . . There's enough to make
a meal on . . . with tender
goodness.
Six salad dressings are
made at Darlin' Lilly's .. .
My blue cheese was tasty,
chunky and thick ... Didn't
have any soup, alt
hough
Tony makes clam chowder,
French onion and another
different one each day.
My jumbo butterfly
shrimp was also not
heavily breaded ... you
can taste the shrimp .. .
no goodness or size is
hidden by thick batter .. .
Naturally, I had my own
white shrimp sauce mix-
ture ... which is coming
closer and closer to the
famous Louisiana Sauce
I used to love.
Presentation of food is
also very different and bet-
ter at Darlin' Lilly's .. .
Black foundation platters
are now beneath plates .. .
plus beautiful- garni . . . But
what I ate was so very good
.. much tastier and de-
lightful than before .. .
which actually is the bottom
line . . . along with price,
which at "the new" Darlin'
Lilly's is a factor because of
the reasonable dollar val-
ues.
The kitchen is open late
during the week . . . and
later on weekends.
Biggest fault before re-
garding the food at Darlin'
Lilly's seems to have been
corrected . . . and the menu
has a big content facelift .. .
This is a different Darlin'
Lilly's now . . . even though
the interior is the same ..
Except for one band which
wasn't accepted too keenly,
it has always been a major
entertainment center .. .
Following The Loving Cup,
Pam Martin and Pizzazz,
another dynamite group,
returns.

besides those delicious
appetizer croquettes .
Now there are 11 Italian
dishes ... including four
veal favorites, a meatball
sub, Italian sub and veal
cutlet sandwich . . . six
seafood entrees (sole,
whitefish, scrod, trout,
etc.), four salads, ribs,
steaks, burgers ...
never-take-off menu
items like the great
Banana Split Cake, those
crunchy delicious
Nachos Supreme and
that Bounty-in-a-Baker
meal of itself (potato top-
ped with bar-b-q beef,
cheddar cheese and
chopped onions) ... side
dishes, soups and a sec-
tion called "For the Light
Appetite."
About The Loving Cup, at
Darlin' Lilly's through Oct.
2, what can be said that al-
ready hasn't . . . They aren't
better than before because
they were already very good
the last time I heard them
. . . Danny Jordan with his
amazing five keyboards;
Steve Allen, bass; Max
Kolomitz, drums; and Mar-
