Israel Allows

Aid Shipment

_
JERUSALEM (JTA) —
Israel allowed the Egyptian
ship, Lotus, which was an-
chored in the Beirut harbor
last week, to unload some
2,000 tons of food and medi-
cal supplies.
The ship, was not premit-
ted to unload it contents be-
cause several leaders of par-
ties in Egypt opposed to Is-
rael were aboard and
planned to go ashore to
demonstrate against Is-
rael's military actions in
Lebanon.
Israeli officials decided to
allow the unloading in order
to get the medical supplies
distributed.
