NEW YORK (JTA) — A
representative of the
American Lebanese League
in Birmingham, Ala., said
that his organization sup-
ports and will "continue to
support Israeli action in
Lebanon until the PLO has
been swept from the area,"
it was reported by Israel's
Consul General for South-
eastern United States in At-
lanta, Ga., Yehoshua
Triger.
The league's representa-
tive, Joseph Boohaker, vice
president of the organiza-
tion for the southern region,
spoke at a joint press con-
ference with Triger last
week in Birmingham.
The conference was also
attended by Padgett Cope,
senior minister of the
Ruhama Baptist Church in
that city, and Dr. Jimmy
Harper, regional director of
the National Conference of
Christians and Jews
(NCCJ).

After 22 days they were
informed by the Emigration
Department that they were
granted passports and exit
permits.
Before leaving Romania,
Adrian sent a letter of
thanks to President
Ceaucesco. In Israel, the
couple changed their
Romanian names into He-
brew.

According to Triger,
Boohaker asserted that
"Until Syrian and PLO
troops are removed,
Lebanon cannot have a
free democracy and
pluralistic society."

The young couple decided
not to give in and appealed
to President Ceaucescu and
members of the Politboro to
let them go to Israel. They
waited for weeks for an an-
swer. Afterwards they pro-
claimed a hunger-strike.
They also turned to foreign
press correspondents and
told them their story.

ADL Won't Meet
PLO Supporters

NEW YORK — The
Anti-Defamation League of
Bnai Brith has declined a
National Council of
Churches of Christ invita-
tion to meet on the situation
in Lebanon because partici-
pants will include a group
that actively supports the
aims and policies of the ter-
rorist Palestine Liberation
Organization.
James
Bishop
Armstrong, president of the
NCCC, invited ADL, other
Jewish agencies, and the
Palestine Congress of North
America — the group which
caused ADL to decline — to
meet with NCCC.
