Tuesday for the $77.4 mil-
lion Riverfront West
apartment complex that has
been in the planning stages
for 11 years.
The project was conceived
by financier Max M. Fisher
and developer A. Alfred
Taubman. Also participat-
ing in Tuesday's ceremonies
were Detroit Mayor Cole-
man Young and representa-
tives of the state and federal
governments.
Two 29-story towers lo-
cated along the Detroit
River west of the Joe Louis
Arena will have a total of
604 apartment units, a
health club, parking for 900
cars, a marina and a
people-Mover station.
The project is intended to
bring more residents
downtown to help revitalize
the downtown area.
