Mark Shavuot

The Sholem Aleichem In-
stitute will present a
Shavuot celebration for the
Conference of Secular
Jewish Organizations 8:30
p.m. today at the Troy Hil-
ton Inn.
The conference will fea-
ture workshops and
entertainment. Delegates
from the metropolitan area,
Toronto, Chicago, Cleve-
land, Philadelphia, Boston,
New York,` Maryland, New
Jersey and California are
expected to attend.
There is a late registra-
tion fee.

counselor.

The group will have a
dance 8 p.m. June 6 at
Hamilton Place. Frank
Venice and his Trio will
provide music for dancing.

Weizmann Friends to Gather

The Detroit Division of
the American Committee
for the Weizmann Institute
of Science will meet 8 p.m.
Wednesday in the Birming-
ham home of Paul Borman.
Guest speaker will be
Prof. David H. Samuel,
Sherman Professor of Phys-
ical Chemistry and director
of the Center for Neurosci-
ences and Behavioral Re-
search at the Weizmann In-
stitute of Science.
Born in pre-state Israel,
Prof. Samuel is the
grandson of Viscount Her-
bert Samuel, Britain's first
High Commissioner of
Palestine and himself the
third viscount of Mt. Car-
mel. He has been a member
of the Weizmann Institute

staff since 1949.
Hosting the meeting will
be chairman Borman and
Vivian Berry, Burton
Farbman, Milton Gilman,
Martin Goldman, Daniel
Honigman, Julie Levy,
Graham Orley, Norman
Pappas, Yvan Silva, Robert
Sosnick, Lois Spector,
Harry Walts and Richard
Zuckerman.

Begins Schedule of Events

organized a singles commit-
tee, "Jewish and Single
(JAS)," to plan programs for
Jewish singles age 18-80.
