Costa Rica Shifts Embassy
from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem

JERUSALEM (JTA) —
Costa Rica this week be-
came the first country to
move its embassy back to
Jerusalem from Tel Aviv.
Israel regards this as a
major diplomatic break-
through and belies other
countries will also return
their embassies to
Jerusalem.
Costa
Rica's • new
president Luis Alberto
Monge pledged to return his
country's embassy to Is-
rael's capital during his
election campaign. Agricul-
tural attache Carlos
Delgado-Hand told report-
ers here that the decision
was an expression of deep
friendship between the
countries.
Costa Rica and 12 other
countries, mostly Latin
American, transferred their
embassies from Jerusalem
to Tel Aviv in compliance
with a United Nations Se-
curity Council resolution
after Israel passed a law in
1981 declaring united
Jerusalem to be Israel's cap-
ital.
Meanwhile, Premier
Menahem Begin has
promised that Israel
will cooperate closely
with Zaire on a wide
range of interests and
would also help Zaire im-
prove its image in the
United States.
The pledge was contained
in a letter to President

House Moves
Against Iraq

WASHINGTON — The
House Foreign Affairs
Committee on May 13 voted
17-11 to place Iraq back on
the list of countries that
support international ter-
rorism.
The Reagan Administra-
tion removed Iraq from the
list three months ago in
order to sell it up to a dozen
of the civilian version of the
C-130 Hercules transport
plane.
Michigan Congressmen
who voted in favor of the ac-
tion included Howard
Wolpe and George Crockett.
William Broomfield voted
against the motion.

The Jews were expelled
from England in 1290 and
not allowed to return until
the 1600s.

The expectations of life
depend upon diligence; the
mechanic that would per-

Mobulu Sese Seko last week
after Saudi Arabia an-
nounced it was breaking
diplomatic relations with
the central African nation
because Mobuto has re-
stored Zaire's relations with
Israel.
The Saudis broke with
Zaire last Tuesday. On
Thursday, Qatar, another
oil-producing Arab state on
the Persian Gulf, acted
similarly and last weekend
Pakistan threatened to
break off diplomatic rela-
tions with both Zaire and
Costa Rica.

"Art in the Square,"
Applegate Square's fourth
annual art fair, will be held
June 4 and 5 from 10 a.m.

linois and Canada will ex-
hibit and sell jewelry, paint-
ings, blown and stained
glass, pottery, woven bas-
kets, photography, soft
sculpture, weaving, metal
sculpture, hand made paper
and enamel.
Exhibiting artists are:
Linda Jacobs, Neil Segal,
Karen Katz, Stuart Shul-
man, Ruth Poris, Nina
Mann, Mitzi Jacobs, Lewis
Dennison, Sylvia Perle,
Scott Smith, Ted Striewski,
Brian Elrod, Suzanne
Young, Kim Yanke, Bobbi
Stevens, Carla Rado,

rowski, Barbara Bridges,
