In celebration of Cong.
Bnai David's 90th anniver-
sary year, the annual Bnai
David-Israel Bond tribute
dinner will pay tribute to 14
presidents of the congrega-
tion whose terms of office
occurred after the estab-
lishment of the state of Is-
rael and who each led his
congregation in outstand-
ing support of Israel's eco-
nomic development.
The dinner is scheduled
for 6:30 p.m. June 9 at the
synagogue.
The Israel Bond Organ-
ization will present Scrolls
of Honor to Mendel Shif-
man, Charles N. Shere,
Morris J. Braadwine, Mel-
ville J. Richman, Jack J.
Kraizman, Harry Kol-
tonow, Max Sosin, Meyer N.
Must, Irving Belinsky, Gus-
tav Berenholz, Alan Weiner
and Lawrence Traison, and
posthumously to Harold

The Society for Humanis-
tic Judaism recently held its
12th annual meeting in
Washington, D.C. The
organization now consists of
13 congregations and
groups throughout the U.S.
The society voted to es-
tablish a woodland in the
Negev Desert, will encour-
age its members to join the
World Zionist Organiza-
tion, and to support groups
who favor civil liberties and
the separation of religion
from government in Israel.
It also decided to co-
sponsor with Kibutz Artzi, a
secular kibutz movement in
Israel, a second Conference
of Secular and Humanistic
Jews in Israel in June 1983.
Detroiters who were
elected to positions with
the society included:

Rabbi Sherwin Wine, ad-
viser; and directors Ethel
Levine, Eli Master, E.
