First Report Meeting of 1982 Allied Campaign Is Set for Sunday

Israeli journalist and
television producer-director
Israel Amitai will be the
guest speaker at Sunday's
report meeting of the 1982
Allied Jewish Campaign -
Israel Emergency Fund.
The meeting will be held at
9:30 a.m. at the United
Hebrew Schools.
Amitai was born in Israel
and served in the Hagana,
Israel's underground de-
fense force, at age 15. He
began his career in jour-
nalism with the Armed

Forces Radio, and went on
to become editor of the
Davar daily newspaper. In
addition to producing and
directing more than 1,000
television programs on pub-
lic affairs, the arts and
ethnic topics, Amitai also
has authored numerous
plays and articles.
Well known locally and
around the world for his
thought-provoking lec-
tures, Amitai is fluent in
six languages and has
studied Jewish corn-

over, the mission featured
foreign policy briefings by
Presidential Adviser Wil-
liam Clark. Detroiters Dr.
and Mrs. David Jacknow,
Mr. and Mrs. David Stul-
berg and Jerome Ash also
had the opportunity to meet
with Secretary of State Ale-
xander Haig and Senators
Rudy Boschwitz (R-Minn.)
and Howard Metzenbaum
(D-Ohio).
Rounding out the ac-
tivities was a luncheon with
Thomas Dine, executive di-
rector of the American-
Israel Public Affairs Com-
mittee and Mark Talisman,
director of the Washington
