sembly welcoming "the ex-
panded programs of the
government of Israel and
the Jewish Agency" to effect
the immigration of Ethio-
pian Jews to Israel and their
integration and absorption
into Israeli society.
Significant numbers of
Falashas reached Israel in
1980 and 1981, the vast
majority of them through
the efforts of brave Israelis
and those who assist them.
And the treatment they
have received in Israel, as
they joined previous arri-
vals and their children,
strongly refutes Ethiopia.
Those of us who have
seen the Jewish Agency
absorption centers in
Beersheba, Ofakim and
Ashkelon know how
warmly, concernedly and
effectively the Falashas
are received and are
being served, their health
repaired, their initial dis-
location
cushioned
through the employment
of previous Falasha arri-
vals to bridge cultural
and language gaps, spe-
cial foods provided,
vocational training pro-
grams related to their
craft experience, and no
expenditure spared.
At their request an all
Falasha settlement is now
being established in Lach-
ish, south of Jerusalem.
