Detroit are investigating a
Detroit firm which has been
trying to purchase military
supplies for resale to Libya,
Syria and other Arab coun-
tries.
The company has in-
quired about buying trucks,
helicopters, four-wheel
drive vehicles, armored per-
sonnel carriers, tents,
parachutes, medical
supplies and other military
equipment.
The firm, Near East
Trade, was established by
George Badeen in 1979 with
the help of his father, Rev.
Alfred John Badeen.
Rev. Badeen is active in
the Christian Arab commu-
nity in Detroit and pastor of
St. George Syrian Orthodox
Church.
