Microfiche File on Holocaust -
Available From Yad Vashem

TEL AVIV — Yad Vas-
hem has just published on
microfiche a collection of
15,000 authentic photo-
graphs taken during the
Holocaust in a volume titled
"Archives of the Destruc-
tion."

The photographs show
the realities of the
Holocaust in the concentra-
tion camps and ghettos,
Jewish resistance groups
and other historically im-
portant events which took
place in Nazi Germany.

The entire collection of
rare photographs is repro-

duced on 245 microfiche
which can be purchased by
institutions or individuals
for libraries, university
study centers, Hillel Foun-
dations, synagogues,
schools and other public in-
stitutions.
The photographs were
gathered during the past
28 years by Yad Vashem,
a non-profit organization
in Israel whose purpose
is to study the Holocaust
and transmit its lessons
to future generations.
They were taken during
World War II by Nazi or-
ganizations, allied ser-

vicemen who took photo-
graphs during the libera-
tion of concentration
camps and by Jewish and
non-Jewish under-
ground organizations
who photographed clan-
destinely.
In addition to the mic-
rofiche, the volume includes
an index which gives a de-
scription of each picture and –
where it occured.
"Archives of the Destruc
tion" is produced and distri-
buted by ITTI: Microfilm

L'Chayim olln

By MAURICE CROLL, M.D.

All thru the ages, even beyond time,
We have raised our glasses of wine
To roast a "Salude" to our fellow man,
As an age-old vintage of our lives.

All other nations have a similar salutation.
In their own tongue, just as meaningful,
In their own way.

Even when we are hounded, decimated
and attacked.
Evih in our new land of hope —
In the quiet of the sheltered night —
Still we raise our glasses.
With our eyes toward God, pleading —
For a better tomorrow — in hope,
According to our covenant.

To Our Life
11
0 11 1112-means "to life" — your life,
As you choose to lead it.
All honor to our meaningful greeting but,
Actually 01 lilt? means much more,
Much, much more to us.

To your life as you choose to lead it —
No matter which path you choose —
'It is not for me to say,
Your path is yours, and yours alone.
D 1 In'? Is the foundation of the
Golden Rule.

To Life

Why, then, in honoring our beloved in death,
The revered prayer of "Yisgadal" contains
Not one word pertaining to death.'
'Once again we re-affirm and strengthen
Our etermal bonds with the Almighty,
Looking forward to another day with hope, to life.

Oh, if only I had words, such sufficient words of joy,
To relate of my supreme joy that permeates thru me.
Surely, I could not contain it all.
Like all pure joy it must be shared.
It was just too fulfilling for one human being.

In times of the imminent approach of death
We wrap our being and soul in the
heart-healing hope
Of the watchword of our people
As we repeat to all the world our 'Su-Mah."

I stored all of this in my bank of love
That multiplied and multiplied in interest.
And in the dire lonely moments
When stress bears down to threaten me
I draw upon my bank of memories
And I am content and tranquil once again,
Bathed in pure joy.

My heart glowed with an inner pride that
my people,
All over the world, could come together,
In common prayer — in words that firmed
us together
In bonds that could never be broken —
With our eyes toward God.

Even in Iquitos, Peru, at the base of the lofty Andes,
Where the mighty Amazon gathers its strength to flow,
Eastward, into the Atlantic, where it can be followed —
Still. in the Atlantic — for 150 miles of fresh, blue water, -
I found in this verdant jungle six Jewish families.

For our tomorrows, we pray with reverence
and hope.

In many lands of different tongues
I met with my people — Orthodox: In Shul;
In the landlocked country of Bolivia;
In the land of the Quechua Indians (Incas);

At the lofty height of 12,500 feet (LaPaz).
After an all-day search, I found a room —
A third-floor back room (Shul) Erev Shabbos,
Just in time to complete a minyan.

7

At eventide, in their homes, they gathered
In a banquet group to honor me, another Jew.
And in my fractured Spanish I toasted them,
and they, in turn, toasted me.
As we raised our wine glasses together in uniwon
With our eternal greeting, with love

0"R17

P.S. Er 1 1117
means many things to different people.
This is the meaning it has to me. When two people raise
their glasses, in unison toward the heavens, there
is a new level of beauty and understanding. If only
that supreme momentcould be carried over into our
daily lives.
