Demand High at Technion
HAIFA — The Technion's
degree of success in certain
fields has created a demand
among students from
technologically sophisti-
cated countries to study in
Israel. One of those fields is
engineering and manage-
ment of water resources,
which has had increasing
appeal over the years to
graduate students from
several western nations.
Given in English, the
program is divided into
three semesters and is of-
fered jointly by the faculties
of civil engineering and ag-
ricultural engineering.
Students completing the
program's requirements re-
ceive an MSc degree in
engineering and manage-
ment of water resources.
The next program will
begin on Oct. 17. Applica-
tions must be received by
Feb. 23.

ites, tuition fees, schol-

NEW YORK — Senator
Daniel Patrick Moynihan
(D-N.Y.) has urged that
procedures used by the
Democratic Party in select-
ing its Presidential
nominee be designed so that
those who observe the Sab-
bath on Saturday are al-
lowed to participate fully.
Sen. Moynihan noted that
delegate selection caucuses,
state caucuses and
primaries were held in some
cases on Saturdays during
the 1980 Presidential prim-
ary campaign and thus "ef-
fectively closed out of the
selection process several
million religious Jews,
Seventh Day Adventists
and members of other
groups that observe Satur-
day as the Sabbath."

The award-winning pro-
duction is a docudrama on
survival in the South Bronx
and part of an overall
agency thrust to incorpo-
rate the problems of the el-
derly into various educa-
tional settings.
The story is an authentic
account of the last
synagogue in the South
Bronx, The Intervale
Jewish Center. It focuses on
the few remaining Jewish
residents, all elderly and
poor who have fought many
obstacles to maintain and
protect their synagogue and
survive in a place where few
New Yorkers care to ven-
ture.
