judges joined me in choosing
a fancy number two.
Close behind were Shir-
ley Baron and Billy Olsen,
who renewed old acquain-
tances . . They danced to-
gether at the former
Graystone Ballroom 20
years ago . . . and this time
again at Rennaisance Bal-
lroom to some of the same
tunes for terpsi spinning.
Elliot Trumbull and
Rosanne Schlussel, co-
chairpersons, did a fine job
in coordinating a successful
shindig that could become
an annual event.
COUPLE OF CLASSIC
films are next two weeks at
Bloomfield Theater, S.
Woodward, south of Maple
. . Today begins "That's
Entertainment," the his-
tory of MGM with film clips
put together from those
great musical flicks by the
super movie moguls . . .
Next Friday will be the all-
time biggie, "Gone With
The Wind."
EZZIE HOLYK, the chef
who made Club Berkley
famous for its food when the
spot was on Woodward a few
years back, is still bringing

fi

the people in at Dominico's
on Coolidge between 11 and
12 Mile in Berkley . . .
The place is not what people
would call atmospheric din-
ing . . but as Roy Andries
de Groot of Esquire Maga-
zine would say, "Who eats
the atmosphere?"
It's the food Ezzie puts out
that brings people from all
over . . baby lake perch,
red snapper, Dover sole,
turtle soup, baby frog legs
sauteed in regular butter or
garlic butter, etc.. . Tell
the waitress which kind of
frog legs . . . Ezzie uses
fresh garlic, at an addi-
tional charge . . . And if
you want some of Ezzie's
great cottage fries which
are not on the menu, by the
way, tell the waitress well
in advance, or when making
a reservation . . . The
potatoes are sliced to order.
We had a swell waitress
. Connie Caddell . . .
smiling and efficient .
and enjoyed the baby perch
. . . so tender and tasty.
BIG CROWD at Ex-
calibur on Northwestern
last week saw a huge birth-
day cake for owner Pat
Archer . . . with the in-
scription "Again 49" . .
and folks gathered around
him singing "Happy Birth-
day" in all different keys
than that played by the very
fine Larry Nozero quartet.
CATHY LOCKE, popu-
lar songstress, is part of
"The Three of Us" playing
Fridays and Saturdays at
Lion's Castle on Gratiot and
21 Mile in Mt. Clemens.
NEW OWNERS OF
Lenny's Deli on Orchard
Lake between 13 and 14
Mile are Gary and Laura
Kienscherf . . bringing
back old-time dishes like
flanken, liver steak, stuffed
meat balls, etc. . . . with
Gary doing own cooking
from some of the recipes
supplied by Laura's mother,
Minnie Eisenberg, resident
at Northgate Apartments in
Oak Park.
The traditional Jewish
style of cooking that had
been lost for a while at Len-
ny's is back . . . combined
with the modern style of
tray ca-Lering by ace counter
gent Jeff Fidler.
Gary is also an expert
photographer . . . He'll
transfer one of the walls
into a mini art gallery with
photos elegantly framed
. Another wall will be a
pictorial selection of Jeff's
trays.
NEW LOOK will soon be
at Rikshaw Inn at Orchard
Mall on Orchard Lake Rd.
and Maple . . . Center wall
will come down giving a
large spacious scene . .
and a bar will take up the
entire back wall . . . with
eight to 10 stools . . . Also,
for the first time since open-
ing Nov. 8, 1973, Rikshaw
will have delivery service of
its oriental foods.
LEMON PEEL on
Woodward in Birmingham,
owned by John and Fran
Kales, will soon add still
another dimension to their
interesting restaurant.

He that makes it his bus-
iness not to know, but to be
known, is like a foolish
tradesman, who makes all

the haste he can to sell off
his old stock, but takes no
thought of laying in any
new.
