The Bnai Brith Women's
Council of Metropolitan De-
troit will hold its annual
special gifts luncheon to
benefit the Bnai Brith
Youth and Services Appeal
noon Nov. 12 at Temple
Beth El.
Honoree will be Ethel
Levy. Mrs. Levy has worked
on behalf of senior citizens
in the community and as-
sisted in the planning of the
Federation Apts. In 1973,
Mrs. Levy received the
Heart of Gold Award of the
Women's Division of the
United Foundation.
She is a past president of
Pisgah Chapter of Bnai
Brith Women, Maimonides

have been named for the
Bnai Brith Humanitarian
Award Dinner slated to
take place 6 p.m. Nov. 17 at
the Westin Hotel (formerly
Detroit Plaza).
They are: Robert Dewar,
chairman of the executive
and finance committee,
Kmart Corp.; David K. Eas-
lick, president of Michigan
Bell Telephone Co.; Max M.
Fisher, industrialist -
philanthropist and com-
munal leader; Edward J.
Giblin, chairman of the
board and CEO of the Ex-
Cell-0 Corp.; Walter J.
McCarthy, president and
CEO, Detroit Edison; Dean
E. Richardson, CEO and
chairman of the board,
Manufacturers National
Bank; Alan E. Schwartz, at-
torney and community
leader; Robert M. Surdam,
chairman of the board of the
National Bank of Detroit;
and Stanley J. Winkelman,
chairman of the board of
Winkelman Stores, Inc.
This year Bnai Brith will
honor Rodkey Craighead,
newly retired chief execu-
tive officer and chairman of
the board of Detroit Bank
and Trust and current
chairman of New Detroit.
Presentation of the
Bnai Brith Internation-
al's highest honor, the
Gold Medallion, will be
made by Jack J. Spitzer,
president of. Bnai Brith
International.
Proceeds from the ban-
quet will be used to help
support Bnai Brith's youth
serving agencies: the Hillel
Foundation on some 400 col-
lege campuses and the Bnai
Brith Youth Organization
serving 35,000 teenagers
nationally.
In Michigan, there are
Hillel Foundations on the
campuses of Wayne State
and Michigan State Uni-.
versities and the University
of Michigan. In Detroit, the
Bnai Brith Youth Organ-
ization serves 1,200 teenage
boys and girls belonging to
AZA and BBG. Both Hillel
and BBYO provide educa-
tional, religious and cul-
tural programs designed to
strengthen the participants'
religious beliefs and instill
a sense of civic responsibil-
ity.
The local Bnai Brith
Foundaiton chairman for
this event is David L. Bitt-
ker. Ernest Shaw is the
associate chairman and
Louis Weber is the honorary
chairman. Co-ordinating
with the foundation com-
mittee in dinner ar-
rangements are members of
the Bnai Brith Fund-
Raising Cabinet: Chair-
man, David Levine; com-
mittee members: Floyd
Bornstein, Gerald Corlin,
Sol Moss, Alex Ornstein,
Nathan D. Rubenstein, Ar-
thur Schott, Milton Weins-
tein and Harold Zuker.
