the HMC will include ac-
quiring and exhibiting
archival and graphic
data, survivors' oral his-
tories and similar mate-
rials related to the
Holocaust for permanent
as well-as special exhibi-
tion. Educational pro-
grams will be developed
for students and
teachers, adult groups
and religious institu-
tions.
Rabbi Charles H.
Rosenzveig, director of the
Holocaust Memorial Cen-
ter, said impetus for the
project came from members
of the organization Shaarit
Haplaytah, survivors of the
Holocaust who wanted to
establish a permanent
memorial to the Six Million.
In recent years, the Jewish
Welfare Federation has
provided assistance in rais-
ing funds for the project.
Formal ownership of the
new structure will reside
with the United Jewish
Charities, Federation's
senior agency which carries
responsibility for com-
munal properties and the
management of endowment
funds.

Rabbi Rosenzveig, 559-
