UN Resolutions
Form Basis
for Peace: Haig
UNITED NATIONS
(JTA) — Secretary of State
Alexander Haig said Mon-
day that the United States
will continue to assist "the
negotiations specified by
(UN Security Council)
Resolutions 242 and 338 in
order to bring a just and
lasting peace to the Middle
East."
The Secretary's brief re-
marks on the Middle East
were part of a 40-minute
address to the United Na-
tions General Assembly
which opened its general
debate Tuesday. Observers '
noted that Haig's Middle
East reference conspicu-
ously avoided mention of
the Camp David accords, ,
contrary to previous years
since the accords were
signed by the U.S., Israel
and Egypt in 1979.
Haig's only other refer-
ence to the Middle East in
his speech was that the U.S.
would continue actively its
efforts "to strengthen and
expand the cease-fire in
southern Lebanon."
Hate Merchants
LONDON (ZINS) —
British newspapers in re-
cent weeks have been
flooded with advertise-
ments offering Nazi
emblems and anti-Semitic
pamphlets for sale.
Incredibly, according to
Jewish leader Harry Curtis,
some of the material is
being sold by Jewish mer-
chants.
New Settlements
JERUSALEM (ZINS) —
According to Matti Drobles
of the Jewish Agency, Israel
has formed 46 new settle-
ments in Judea and
Samaria in the last thre4,,
years, And 58 in Galilee.
Carolyn Greenberg, a
member of the CJF
Women's Division execu-
tive committee and long-
range planning committee,
actively participated in ses-
sions, along with Shelby
Tauber, president of the
Federation Women's Di-
vision, who also serves on
the CJF Women's Division
board.
Federation Executive Di-
rector Sol Drachler and
Alan Kandel, Federation
director of agency planning
and budget, also attended.
