NEW YORK (JTA) — A
volume by former Foreign
Minister Abba Eban of Is-
rael, "History of the Jews,"
and the 1981 edition of the
American Jewish Year
Book were among several
books seized by Soviet
authorities at the start last
week's third Moscow Inter-
national Book Fair, accord-
ing to reports from Moscow.
A spokesman for the
Association of American
Publishers, which coordi-
nated the exhibitions of
American book publishers,
said he was told by- Soviet
authorities that opinions
expressed in those books
would anger visitors and
that sections dealing with
Soviet policies toward Jews
and Israel were unbalanced.
One book publishing
firm, Random House, re-
fused to attend because of
an attack on Robert Berns-
tein, chairman of the com-
pany. Two months ago an
article in the Soviet weekly
Literaturnaya Gazeta said
that Bernstein "uses the
language of Zionist scum to
slander the Soviet Union."
In 1979 his visa was re-
voked and he was not
allowed to attend the Sec-
ond International Book Fair
because of his activities in
behalf of Soviet dissidents.
