The Jewish Parents Insti-
tute, a secular organ-
ization offering Sunday
school classes at the main
Jewish Community Center,
is taking registration for
fall.
The JPI offers secular
Jewish education in such
topics as holidays and Bible
stories, early history of the
Jews, modern Israel, Jews
in America, history of the

Jews, the Jewish life-cycle,
anti-Semitism and the
Holocaust, contemporary
Jewish problems from 1948.
Emphasis is on family in-
volvement. Classes meet 10
a.m. Sundays in the main
Jewish Center complex.

Maj. (retired) Max Gill,
director of the East Central
Region of the American
Technion Society, will
speak on behalf of State of
Israel Bonds at the Bnai
Brith Marshall Suburban
Lodge-Israel Bond Recep-
tion 7 p.m. Aug. 23 at the
Labor Zionist Alliance.
Past presidents of the
lodge will be honored. Cur-
rent president is Alfred
Stebbins and reception
chairman is Al Gutman.
Prior to his current post,
Maj. Gill held several
executive positions in Haifa
for the Technion adminis-
tration.
Born in Germany in
1919, he emigrated to
pre-Israel Palestine in
1926. He attended Reali
High School in Haifa and
studied in England and at
the British Mandatory
Palestine Law School.
Maj. Gill served for 23
years, both before and after
the establishment of the
state of Israel, in Israel's de-
fense forces. During the
War of Liberation he was
commander of one of the in-
fantry companies which
wrested Haifa from Iraqi
troops.
During the Six-Day War
he assisted in the evacua-
tion of UN personnel from
the battle area, and was a
member of the first military
government set up in Gaza.
During the Yom Kippur

War he served as an army
liaison between the Minis-
try of Commerce and the
Northern Command of IDF
with regard to supplying
food to the civilian popula-
tion.
Maj. GM was active in
Israel's program of aid to
developing countries,
serving for five years as
emissary to several of
these countries and train-
ing top youth leaders
from Africa and Asia. He
was a youth work adviser
to the government of
Liberia and served as a
UN expert on youth work,
with the UN Economic
Commission for Africa at
its Addis Ababa head-
quarters.

kick-off dinner chairman.
Serving with Rubenstein as
co-chairmen are Milton M.

sender. Committee mem-

The kick-off dinner will
