It is traditional among
Jews to eat dairy dishes on
the days preceeding the
Fast of Tisha b'Av (Aug. 9
this year) which is the day
set aside as one of mourning
for the destruction of the
Holy Temple in Jerusalem.

1 • cup flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 cup drained crushed
pineapple
1 tbsp. sugar
1 beaten egg
1 /4 cup skim milk
1 tbsp. oil
oil for deep frying
Mix all dry ingredients to-
gether. Mix all liquid ingre-
dients together. Mix dry and
liquid ingredients together.
Stir lightly. Drop from tsp. in
very hot deep oil. Spoon
should be hot and lightly oiled
so the batter slides off easily.
Fry 3 minutes. Drain on paper
towels. Serve with
applesauce, sour cream or
maple syrup. Serves 4-6 as a
side dish.
