JDL Protests Appearance of Nazi Leader on TV Show
NEW YORK (JTA) —
The Jewish Defense League
had protested to the pro-
ducers of NBC-TV's "To-
morrow" show for permit-
ting an American Nazi
leader to appear on the show
with Tom Snyder.
The JDL, in a telegram to
the producers, demanded
both an apology to the
Jewish community and a
change in policy regarding
the scheduling of "Nazis
and Klansmen."
The telegram of -protest
was rpampted by the ap-
pearance last week of
Harold Covington, 27, of
Raleigh, N.C., who heads

$1 Million Gift for Seminary
NEW YORK (JTA) —
The Jewish Theological
Seminary of America (JTS)
has received a $1 million
gift from Jay Phillips, Min-
neapolis business leader
and philanthropist, it was
announced by JTS Chancel-
lor Gerson Cohen. He re-
ported that the Phillips
grant was the first of that
magnitude towards the JTS'
$18 million building pro-
gram.

Are Criticized

Prime Minister Menahem
Begin always treated the
three generals in his
Cabinet with special re-
spect, according to reporter
Shlomo Nakdimon in
Yediot Ahronot.
Moshe Dayan, Ezer
Weizman and Ariel Sharon
had the respect of the prime
minister despite the fact
that the three were usually
at odds with each other.
Vice Premier Simha
Ehrlich, however, wanted
Begin to "call these adoles-
cent generals to order be-
cause every one of them be-
haves like an immature
person on every occasion."
Erhlich was particularly
critical of Sharon, who he
said was a capable general
who was also capable of
building concentration
camps for his political oppo-
nents.
