were honored last week at a
dinner party given by their
children on the occasion of
the couple's 50th wedding
anniversary.
Born in Poland, Godfrey
immigrated to Canada after
World War I and later came
to the U.S. He is a retired
Chrysler Corp. employee.
Mrs. Godfrey came to the
U.S. from Russia in 1926.

The late Peter Chodoroff
is being memorialized by
his wife, Esther, with the
planting of a grove of 1,000
trees which will bear his
name in Sanhedriya, Israel.
He retired from business
23 years ago. He died in
1977.
Mr. Chodoroff was born in
Eketrinoslav, Russia. He
came to this country at the
age of 8 and learned the
grocery business while
working side by side with
his father who owned a store
on Hastings Street.
Mr. Chodoroff had started
to attend college, but "quit
school and became engaged
in the grocery business," ac-
cording to Mrs. Chodoroff.
As time went on, he
formed a partnership
with the late Max
-Bachman and with his
own brother Joe
Chodoroff. This was the
beginning of the B and C
Markets. They later ex-
panded to a chain by
opening stores in Royal

the Ladies of Yeshivath
Beth Yehudah.

bank loans. Eliezer Levin,
economic writer for
Haaretz, predicts that the
high interest rates will be
