IT WAS A TOUGH move
from their- Oak Park home
to Southfield for Dr. Mark
Segall, wife Nikki and son
Jeremy.
The price was right . . .
free . . . and their landlord
very cooperative . . . He or
wife would often come
e er to baby sit . . . again_
for gratis . . . Also, there
would be free delivery of
deli food and free in-home
movie service . . . the land-
lord bringing over his video
tape equipment . . . setting
it up . . . and allowing free
viewing of his movies.
was
certainly
It
heartbreaking for us to
move where the service was
so terrific at a price that
couldn't be beat," says
Mark.
The Oak Park house they
lived in is owned by Mark's
in-laws and Nikki's par-
ents, State Rep. Joe Forbes
and wife Rena.
NOTE TO WJR'S J. P.
McCarthy . . . Here could
be a fine candidate for your
winner of the day or what-
ever . . . Fellow came into
office of Jerry Robbins' R &
F Metals looking for one of
the owners . . . and said
that as a kid back in 1946,
he used to salvage copper
and brass out of rail cars
waiting to be unloaded at R
& F's railroad siding . . . "I
even got $5 worth one time,"
he said.
To clear his conscience,
the gent wanted to give
back what he thought would
be a fair return on what he
took . . . Jerry asked him
how he'd like to double his
pleasure . . . by donating
the money to Crescent
Shrine Club taking 1457
crippled and burned chil-
dren to the circus.
The fellow left a $20 bill
on Jerry's desk and signed a
donation card . . . He
walked out of my office,"
says Jerry, feeling 10 feet
tall in helping those kids
. . . The man's name was
Leonard Blazner, 20925
Waterloo Rd., Chelsea,
Mich.

Angeles, Calif. 90001 (office

BENJAMIN "BENJI"
Edelstein, a resident of
Borman Hall, Jewish Home
for Aged, has sent along his
most interesting "autobiog-
raphy" scrapbook of
memoirs and newspaper
clippings dating back to
Hastings Street days . . .
Benji was active with the
newspaper group at Prentis
Manor and is one of the
founding writers of the
"Borman Hall Bulletin"
since moving to the Seven
Mile Rd. home.

HERE'S CLASS ... get-
ting coffee at the office of at-
torney Morton Eskin . . . in
a regular cup . . . not
styrofoam . . . and in a cup
belonging to Mort's secre-
tary Dena Wein . . . It says
"215 Club" on it for her
bowling that figure with
Galilee Chapter, Bnai Brith
. . . Dena's high, though, is
236.
AFTER BEING TOLD
that Rose Glaser, a past
president of the Auxiliary,
Jewish Home for Aged, was
visiting from New York,
President Marcia Tanzman
was introduced to her . . .
and asked if she knew an-
other past president, Rae
Greenberg, who was Mar-
cia's neighbor on Fullerton
. . . and the mother of a
girlhood friend, Carolyn
Greenberg.
Rose said she was a con-
temporary of hers . . . and
asked, "Since you lived in
the MacCulloch School
area, do you remember me?"
. . . Marcia thought she
looked familiar . . . and
was- ecstatic at being re-
minded that she was Rose
Levin . . . her elementary
art teacher . . . visiting
from Mt. Vernon, N.Y.
where she now lives.
MAIL DEPT.... "Rabbi
Gorrelick's lectures at the
10 Mile Jewish Center are
drawing large crowds. Late
corners are lucky to find a
seat. He is very well liked by
all. We are fortunate to
have him at the Center."

Shield, etc.) bringing wife
Shirley black coffee . . .

She always drinks it with
cream and sugar.
COL. ARTHUR BE-
CKER, director of Civil De-

sent a "Congratulations —
you did us proud!" . . . let-
ter from Mayor Don
Fracassi . . . for receiving
more awards than any other
civil defense director in the
United States . . . Annual
contest was sponsored by
the Civil Defense Council.
WHEN DOES ATTOR-

to practice his law profes-
sion? . . . He spoke at the
Bnai Moshe Men's Club
dinner recently and at
Temple Israel's Brother-
hood dinner, and Perfection
Lodge last week . . . He'll
be at the Shaarit Haplaytah
Hanuka party Dec. 6 with
the topic, "Jewish Humor—
What's Funny About It?" —
When program chairper-
sons ask Lou his fee, the an-
swer is, "If you had to pay
me, you couldn't afford it."

Bashfulness is a great
hindrance to a man, both in
uttering his sentiments and
in understanding what is
proposed to him; it is there-
fore good to press forward
with discretion, both in dis-
course and company of the
better sort.
