1.8 Million Palestinians Registered

NEW YORK (ZINS) —
The number of Palestinian
refugees registered with the
United Nations Relief and
Works Agency rose 2.26
percent to 1,844,318 in the
year ending June 30, the
agency said.
It said that 834,000 refu-
gees, or 45.2 percent of the
total, received basic rations,
including flour, rice, sugar

Israeli Arabs
Live Well

Unlike the Jews in Arab
countries, Palestinian
Arabs were neither expelled
nor forced to leave. They left
Israel of their own free will,
as has many times been as-
certained — by Arab
sources, among others —
having been instigated by
their leaders to take flight
in order to clear the way for
the Arab armies, which in-
vaded the newborn State of
Israel in 1948. The 150,000
Palestinian Arabs who re-
mained in Israel were
granted full citizenship and
enjoy the highest standard
of living in the Middle East.

A Jewish Obligation

By JOSEPH SHAPIRO

I have passed my ninetieth birthday
And maybe there is plenty I could say
Who am I, to be "blessed" to live that long
According to the prayer book, eighty years was considered
strong.

The word strong, has a meaning of its own
The age of man's life has changed, it can be shown
The strength of the man's body, is not his physique
But the faith. the man has shown, which was not weak.

Being a man of the Jewish faith, I clearly understand
My duties to the Lord, and his demand
Faith and prayers, are the Jew's best friend
When their obligations, they fully attend.

Fifty-two opportunities man has through-out the year
To declare his faith, without any fear
The "Sabbath" all Jews should attend
That's our debt to the Lord, Rabbis should recommend.
