THE ISRAELI HASIDIC FESTIVAL

The Israeli Hasidic Festi-
val, a production of song,
dance and music performed
by top Israeli stars is corn-
ing to Ann Arbor for a
community-wide Hanuka
celebration 7:30 p.m. Dec. 2,
sponsored by the Bnai Brith
Hillel Foundation in coop-
eration with Alpha Epsilon
Phi, Alpha Epsilon Pi,
Sigma Alpha Mu, Sigma
Delta Tau, Zeta Beta Tau,
Beth Israel Congregation,
Temple Beth Emeth and
the Jewish Cultural School.
The performance will be in
Rackham Auditorium on
the University of Michigan
campus.
The Israeli Hasidic Festi-
val originated in 1969 as a

contest for the best music
set to biblical verses, and
every year since, composers
from around the world enter
their works.
The winning songs,
judged by the audiences
after having' been
selected from hundreds
of entries, are performed
by Israel's top
entertainers to audiences
in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv,
and Haifa. These songs
are then staged for thea-
ter production abroad.

Mintzes Mark Their 60th

Mr. and Mrs. William
(Gussie) Mintz of South-
field, recently celebrated
their 60th wedding an-
niversary at a dinner given
by their children, Mr. and
Mrs. Bernard (Ruth) Mintz
of Southfield, Mr. and Mrs.
Leo (Harriet) Rich of Los
Angeles, Calif., and Mr. and
Mrs. Frank (Monnie) Mintz
of Taylor, at Cong. Beth
Achim.
Born in London, England,
Mintz met the former Gus-
sie Frankel, who was born
in New York City in To-
ronto. They were married in
Toronto on Oct. 31, 1920, at
the McCall Street
Synagogue and then moved
and settled in Detroit in
1923.

The
grandsons, Brian, Neil and
David Mintz, along with
Mathew and Kenneth Rich
all toasted their
grandparents as did their
son-in-law, Judge Leo Rich
of Los Angeles. Orchestra
leader, Sam Barnett, played
a salute to the Mintzes.
Attending the fes-
tivities were brothers
and sisters of the Mintzes
from Toronto, Los
Angeles, and Florida, as
well as other friends and
relatives from through-
out the United States and
Canada.
Mintz is a retired printer,
who retired 10 years ago
after working for Michigan
Typesetting Co. for more
than 30 years. He is an
active Mason who has been
associated with Craftsman
Lodge for many years.

A book skillfully com-
posed is a delight to the
taste.
