The Israeli Hasidic Festi- val originated in 1969 as a contest for the best music set to biblical verses, and every year since, composers from around the world enter their works. Beth Achim. Born in London, England, Mintz met the former Gus- sie Frankel, who was born in New York City in To- ronto. They were married in Toronto on Oct. 31, 1920, at the McCall Street Synagogue and then moved and settled in Detroit in 1923. five Mintzes' The grandsons, Brian, Neil and David Mintz, along with Mathew and Kenneth Rich all toasted their grandparents as did their son-in-law, Judge Leo Rich of Los Angeles. Orchestra leader, Sam Barnett, played a salute to the Mintzes. Attending the fes- tivities were brothers and sisters of the Mintzes from Toronto, Los Angeles, and Florida, as well as other friends and relatives from through- out the United States and Canada. Mintz is a retired printer, who retired 10 years ago after working for Michigan Typesetting Co. for more than 30 years. He is an active Mason who has been associated with Craftsman Lodge for many years.
