Israel Army
Adds WB Bases

JERUSALEM (JTA) —
Israel is tightening its secu-
rity grip on the West Bank,
Deputy Defense Minister
Mordechai Zipori reported
during a tour of Jewish set-
tlements in the territory.
He confirmed that the
army is building new bases
in areas designated to come
under the proposed au-
tonomy plan.
The defense official also
spoke of the new network of
roads criss-crossing the
West Bank. He described
the road building as "large
scale," with heavy equip-
ment being utilized to level
the mountainous terrain.

Kirchschlager spoke touch-
ingly of Stolz, his immortal
music and especially
praised the character and
steadfastness of the Maes-
tro, who left Austria during
the Hitler regime and fol-
lowed his Jewish friends
into exile.
Stolz's life motto is
engraved on the monu-
ment: "If my melodies
found a place in the
hearts of people, then I
fulfilled my mission and
did not live in vain."
