Art Exhibit

The Best of Everything

(Continued from Page 35)
Works has its traditional
sit-down Thanksgiving
dinner.
LAST WEEKEND, two
shows opened on the Thea-
ter of the Arts circuit . . .
"Oscar," a musical revue
of over 70 songs that have
won or been nominated for
an Academy Award, opened
at Georgian Inn on Gratiot
and 13 Mile Friday and
Saturday nights through
New Year's Eve . . . Oak
Parker,Robert Leider wrote
its continuity and directed
the show . . . and Troy's
Rhonda Blair was stage
manager.
Opening the same day as
"Oscar" was the "The Owl
and the Pussycat" through
Dec. 20 at Mr. Mac's Stable
in the Parklane Towers in
Dearborn.

PEOPLE WORKING in
the area especially ap-
preciate the Uncle John's
Family Restaurant on
Woodward between 14 Mile
and 15 Mile in Birmingham
. . . for breakfast and lunch
. . . with -many coming
back after working hours to
have dinner also . . .
There's much more than the
old pancake house image
used to portray.
Uncle John's on Wood-
ward may still have pan-
cake house on its outside
building sign because re-
moval would mean no sign
according to the Birming-
ham ordinance, but it is
definitely a family restau-
rant . . . and prefers to be
known as one rather than
the old pancake house note
of years gone by.
Even the waitresses are
more pleasant . . . like Pat
Labadie and Sheryl Brook.

while waiting for a job as a
cook . . . He became cook,
then assistant manager,
manager and now owner.
People eating breakfast

to pancakes to hot beef
sandwiches to steaks to
salads, etc., 21 pancakes,
seven waffles plus French
toast, 16 sandwiches, 12
hamburgers.
Salad bar (all-you-can-
eat) charge is $1 with sand-
wiches . . . and $2.53 alone.
Manager at Uncle John's
Family Restaurant in Bir-
mingham is Randy Labadie,
husband of the waitress who
gave us such fine service.
IF YOU don't feel like
cooking on Thanksgiving,
might be a wise idea to give
Matt Prentice a call at Deli
Unique on Greenfield and

entire set-up . . . minimum
eight people . . . with roast
turkey, dressing etc.
DETROIT'S WJR-FM
launched its first on-the-air
guessing game contest ever,
giving listeners their first
hint of the new independent
and aggressive image new
manageinent is forging
there.
Its Mystery Song Game
contest features 96 prizes
each week . . with listen-
ers trying to identify one of
four daily mystery tunes
and mailing their entries on
past cards to Box 9696, De-
troit 48202 . . . WJR-FM is
96 on the FM dial.
The grand finale comes at
noon next Friday when all
correct entries submitted
will be piled into a new
Chrysler K-car on display in
the lobby of the Fisher Bldg.
FARMINGTON
Players, The Barn Theater,
on W. 12 Mile Rd., in Far-
mington Hills, is showing
Frank Loesser's musical,
"Guys and Dolls," this
weekend and Nov. 20-22
. . curtain 8:30 nightly
'except Sunday, 7:30.
RUMORS ARE defi-
nitely untrue that the old
owners .still have Jakks on
Greenfield and 10 Mile . . .
and that Dick LaCombe is
just running it for them . . .
This couldn't be further
from the truth.
Dick is the very definite
new owner . . . and when
he finishes, there's little
doubt that Jakks will again
be the action spot it once
was . . . Even the kitchen
has been greatly enlarged
. . . It's sparkling new with
cleanliness now a very big
factor.
Chef Chuck Formosa has
a walk-in cooler to age
meats . . . there's a new
salad bar . . . and Dick has
plans for very soon remodel-
ing that'll include painting
the ceiling tiles, new light
fixtures,' etc.
MYSTERY
THE
MUNCHER WRITES . .
"Is the dining-out public
fickle? Is inflation deflating
some appetites for expen-
sive fare? It's tough to fig-
ure.
