ity.
While Begin was honor-
ing Jabotinsky, two small
demonstrations against his
government's policies took
place outside the Waldorf
Astoria.
Some 70 members and
supporters of the Jewish De-

against the Camp David ac-
cords and Begin's agree-

territory to Egypt as part of
the peace treaty. A few
blocks away, pro-
Palestinian demonstrators
shouted slogans against Is-

West Bank.
On Sunday eight,
Begin described the
founder of the Zionist
Movement, Theodor
Herzl, as "our pride, our
love, our prince," and
said that to receive the
Herzl Award of the
Zionist Organization of
America is the "greatest
honor I could have had."
Deeply moved by the ZOA
presentation to him, Begin
said that his heroes were
first, Herzl; followed by
Jabotinsky; and third,
Giuseppe Garibaldi, whom
he described as a "fighter for
freedom."
Ivan Novick, president of
the ZOA, made the pre-
sentation of the gold
medallion to Begin and de-
clared that the premier "has
served his nation, his
people, and the cause of
Jewish integrity with cour-
age and pride."
Also on Sunday, Begin
told Jewish leaders that he
doubts whether a planned
summit conference with
Egyptian President Anwar
