LONDON (ZINS) — A
study prepared by Dr. Barry
Kosmin for the Institute or
Jewish Affairs questions
whether or not there is a
"Jewish vote" in Britain.
The conclusion is a negative
one:
"Unless a general elec-
tion coincides with an issue
of grave consequence to
Jewish electors, and there is
a clear-cut difference be-
tween the two major par-
ties, an articulated and or-
chestrated Jewish vote will
not be evident.
"Even if such a vote
should be sought, one can-
not predict whether it will
overcome the natural vot-
ing pattern among British
Jews based on economic
interests and class norms.
"In terms of actual impact
on the final result, it is
doubtful if a Jewish vote
acting in isolation is really
capable of affecting even a
handful of constituencies,"
the study says.

Valerian Trifa, who gave up
his _U.S. citizenship and
faces deportation for conce-
aling his membership in
Romania's fascist Iron
Guard and his leadership of
a 1941 pogrom in which
hundreds of Jews were kil-
led, is one of the hunted
Nazis and Nazi col-
laborators spotlighted in
the current issues of "Keep-
ing Posted."
The magazine, published
by the Union of American
Hebrew Congregations, de-
scribes the efforts to track
down and bring to justice
Bishop Trifa and hundreds
of other Nazi war criminals
now in the United States.
The U.S. ranks third (after
West Germany and Argen-
tina) in the number of fas-
cist fugitives living within
its borders, according to the
magazine.

has asserted in a television
interview that the U.S. will
follow the _French lead on
Palestinian autonomy after
the U.S. elections.
A Haaretz reporter
writes, however, that

tonomy and France is trying
to recapture the position it
had in the Middle East prior
