Beth Israel Sisterhood
will meet noon Wednesday
in the synagogue. Theme for
the afternoon will be
"Salonika, Greece: A
Famous Jewish City in His-
tory."
Maxine Kronick will nar-
rate her original program,
and food, decorations and
the program will depict
Salonika Jewish life.
The program is entitled,
"You've Come a Long Way
Baby." A babysitter will be
available, and luncheon
will be served to the chil-
dren.

Dr. Eliahu Kanovsky, a
member of the Bar-Ilan fa-
culty and a senior re-
searcher at Tel Aviv Uni-
versity's Shiloah Center for
Middle Eastern Studies.
Cong. Beth Israel will
have a pre-Selihot program
9 p.m. Sept. 6 in the
synagogue.
The program is entitled,
"Heed Ye the Sound of the
Shofar," and it is narrated
by Joanne Gotlib. Appear-
ing in the program will be
Lea Trager, David Leyton,
Debbie Golden Steinman,
Dr. Jack Greenspan and
Cantor Sholom Kalib.
Coffee will be served, and
the Selihot service will
begin at 10:30 p.m. •

The United Hebrew
Schools Nursery School has
moved to its "own" home lo-
cated in the main UHS
building, 21550 W. 12 Mile,
Southfield.
The nursery program of-
fers morning and afternoon
sessions, a lunch hour, bus
service. -

Anita Jacobs.

Soviet Doctors

JERUSALEM (JTA) —
Nablus Mayor Bassam
Shaka, who had both his
legs amputated after his car
was blown up last June,
may go to the Soviet Union
to be fitted with artificial
limbs.
Shaka went to Amman
for medical treatment
shortly after the blast. He
then went to Paris last week
and Sunday flew to London.
Eastern bloc countries of-
fered their services im-
mediately after the boinb-
ing and reportedly ex-
pressed their displeasure
when Shaka first sought
medical aid in the two
Western capitals.
