Morris Mendelsohn, an
all-inclusive Zionist ac-
tivist, an expert in water
purification and desalina-
tion explorations, died July
11 at age 81.
Hundreds of associates in
communal tasks in Zionism
and professional efforts who
filled the Kaufman Chapel
to overflowing heard Rabbi
Gerald Teller enumerate
his many contributions to
Zionism, Israel and the_
community at services Sun-
day morning.
Mr. Mendelson was a
leader for many years in the
Detroit Technion Society,
was among the first to inau-
gurate the tasks of the
America Israel Public Af-
fairs Committee (AIPAC)
here and was a lifelong
member of the Zionist
Organization of Detroit.
As an undergraduate
at the University of
Michigan, where he
earned his degree at the
College of Engineering,
he worked his way
through school by buying
up eggs from a number of
farmers in Wastenaw
County and established a
private route to sell them.
