WONDERINGS
.
Why car washes leave the
motor running while auto is
being dried . . . Why more
women who should, don't
wear dresses . . . Why
people who don't give their
names even bother to write
a newspaper . . . It's never
read and winds up in file 13
(wastebasket) . . . What
kind of restaurant the
former Sultan's Table on 10
Mile and Southfield will be-
come . . . Word is that the
former owner may reopen it
again . . . What Marty
Weinstock of Radiant Signs
looks like without his beard
. . . Why gas stations give
worse service now than they
ever did . . . What fountain
of youth secret 86-year-old

cers by Bnai David Sister-
hood . . . and Sandy Shore

Irene Light, installed as
president, nervous before
speaking and then almost
crying with heartfelt emo-
tions as she spoke.
WHERE DID Dr. Henry
Berris get the nickname of
"Honey" people ask . . . The
late athlete great in whose
name a memorial athletic
scholarship fund has been
established at the Jewish
Community Center, was
called that, according to a
close friend, because he had
a honey of a hook shot as an
all-city and all-state North-
ern High basketball star . .
Brother Stanley, however,
says it was because of their
mother, who used to call
him "hona Ilona" at the
games.
Henry was the first
freshman captain at Wayne
State in 1934 . . . and in
1936 took Wayne's basket-
ball team to the Olympic
trials . . . For more informa-
tion on- the Dr. Henry
"Honey" Berris Memorial
Athletic Scholarship, call
Gail Greenfield at the
Jewish Community Center,

ROSENBERG asked ca-
terer son Jeffrey about
going back to school to
finish his education and get
a degree . . . "now that your
brother Howard is graduat-
ing as a chiropractor from
Palmer College in Daven-
port, Iowa." . . . Jeff replied,
"I don't need any more
smarts. I just want to be a
caterer."
ROBERT CHAITIN,
on of Mickey and Irwin
Chaitin, recently graduated
from Wayne State U. School
of Medicine . . . At the time
Dr. Chaitin begins his in-
ternship at Hutzel Hospital
in Detroit, his twin sister
Pamela will begin her first
year of medical school at
Michigan State U.

hosted by non-profit Ameri-
can Backgammon Club of
Plymouth and North Oak-
land County. For more info,

JOSHUA NEWMAN,
13-year-old son of Elaine
and Dan Newman, won
honors again this year in
competition _ sponsored by
the Michigan Council of
Teachers of Mathematics
. . . After taking second
place in Regional Competi-
tion held at Oakland Uni- _
versity for Oakland, Wayne
and Macomb Counties, he
went on to compete state-
wide at Central Michigan
University in Mt. Pleasant
. . bringing home a trophy
for third place.
LINDA SINGER (Dr.
Larry) at Roger Penske
Chevrolet, knows how to
treat a customer, says Heidi
Press . . . "She's courteous,
patient, pleasant and treats
customers nicely no matter
what the price of the car to
be purchased. It's no wonder
she's among the top sales-
persons at the dealership."
Stops Criticism
JERUSALEM (JTA) —
Edgar Bronfman, acting
president of the Work
Jewish Congress, promised
Sunday that he would ref-
rain from public criticism of
Israeli government policies
as long as he occupies the
top post in the WJC.
Bronfman has been an
outspoken critic of Premier
Menahem Begin's settle-
ment policies on the West
Bank and other matters.
Advice is like snow; the
softer it falls, the longer it
dwells upon, and the deeper
it sinks into the mind.
