UJA Chairman to Address AJC-IEF Closing

chairmen of the nine Cam-
paign divisions, Abbie
Ben-Ari, a former member
of the Israel delegation to
the United Nations, will
address the Campaign lead-
ers and workers at the con-
tinental breakfast gather-
ing.
Total pledges and
amounts raised to date will
be announced.
Ben-Ari has repre-
sented Israel interna-
tionally and served as an
adviser to many develop-
ing nations. He also has
lectured extensively at
Ben-Ari serves as an in-
ternational relations ad-
viser in Jerusalem, where
he resides with his family.
He also is a mass communi-
cations consultant to the Is-
raeli government and to the
private sector.
He was born in Johan-
nesburg, South Africa and

arrived in Israel in 1952.
After living on a kibutz for
eight years, he settled in a
Negev desert town where he
became active in commu-
nity affairs.

WASHINGTON (JTA) —
President Carter's invita-
tion to Israeli opposition
leader Shimon Peres to
meet with him yesterday at
the White House has not
stirred much comment, al-
though the invitation came
while Premier Menahem
Begin was here for his own
conference session with the
President last week.
The White House made
no announcement of the
visit by Peres. At the State
Department, a spokesman
said that it was not unusual
for an opposition leader to
meet with President Carter.
Israeli sources here
said that this was merely
a courtesy call by Peres,
since he will be in the
United States on a
seven-city tour for Israel
Bonds and the invitation
was no different than
that given , to former
Foreign Minister Moshe
Dayan, who also met with

Vance, after he resigned
as foreign minister.
The meeting was ar-
ranged by the U.S. Embassy
