She said society has yet to
learn the lessons of the
Holocaust "because the
Holocaust is now being re-
peated in other nations."
Rabbi Charles H.
Rosenzweig, director of
the Holocaust Memorial
Center, gave the memo-
rial address. "For six
years, day and night,
hour after hour," he said,
"our people suffered
from the Holocaust." He
also pointed to the guilt of
the Christian church ,-
for turning a deaf ear.
"Love and compassion
selectively applied is a re-
flection of a deep-seated
hatred," lie said. "The
Holocaust teaches us what
hatred can lead to."
Other participants in the
program included Dr. Irv-
ing Panush of the Jewish
Community Council, Rabbi
Morton Yolkut of Bnai
David, Sol Kleinman and
Martin Water of Shaarit
Haplaytah, Shari Ferber,
Henry Dorfman of the
Holocaust Memorial Center
and a color guard from
Bloch-Rose Post of the
Jewish War Veterans.

Thousands of persons
participated in ceremonies
at New York's Temple
Emanu-El. Some 250 day
school students held burn-
ing candes while the audi-
ence inside and outside the
temple recited Kadish.
Speakers included author
Elie Wiesel, Rabbi William
Berkowitz of the Jewish Na-
tional Fund, Israeli Ambas-
sador Ephriam Evron and
others.
In Amsterdam, Queen
Juliana attended two cere-
monies in memory of the
more than 100,000 Dutch
