LISTENING
POST
WHO SAID THAT the
love of Spiderman isn't uni-
versal? . . . Allen and Bunni
Lieberman of Heroes World
in Applegate Square,
Northwestern and Inkster,
have been corresponding
with a 12-year-old young
man living in Poland . . . He
writes to the Liebermans
frequently . . . in Polish .. .
requesting comics and other
information .. .
They've been able to an-
swer him because of Mira
Linder, a fellow merchant
at Applegate who is fluent
in seven languages . . .
among them Polish . . . The
12-year-old boy had origi-
nally seen a Heroes World
, ad in Marvel Comics . . . in
Poland.
Bunni and Allen are
scheduled to open their sec-
ond Heroes World around
May 15 at Livonia Mall'.
ROY ROGOW estimates
that he has taken off more
than 2,000 pounds over the
years . . . Roy is at 295, but
vows to again trim down so
he can bend over and bowl.
REMINISCING ...
Ralph Raimi talking about
the club sandwiches he used
to get-for 35c . . . "Can you
believe it?" says Ralph.
"Corned beef at $7 a pound
now?"
MORRIS RAUTBORT
joins a select club . . . by
making a hole-in-one re-
cently . . . on the 165-yard
third hole at San Marino
Golf Club . . . using a five
iron . . . Witnesses to the
golfer's dream were . . . Lou
Freeman, Bob Feldman and
Joe Klinger.
A HEALTHY EXAM-
PLE of open heart surgery
and six bypasses . . . That's
Iry Weintraub of the Elec-
tric Shop . . . given a 70th
birthday party recently at
Larco's by wife Mathilda.
GET WELL WISHES
. to Morris Shillman .. .
former Detroit attorney
now living in Daytona
Beach, Fla., with wife
Esther . . . Morris is getting
over a severe bout with
pneumonia.
FASHION IN eyeglasses
isn't only the type of frames-
that people wear . . . Latest
thing is color in optics as
exhibited by optometrists
like Dr. Harold Roland in
Applegate Square, North-
western at Inkster.
Harold and wife Les Lee
recently returned from a
New York trip . . . bringing
back the absolute latest in
frame designs.
But the big thing is that
whereas many places have
just a few colors to go with
outfits, Harold and Les Lee
are equipped with colors ga-
lore . . . In fact, if someone
brought in a piece of mate-
rial, they can even match
the color.
Imagine having a
different pair of glasses
with frames in colors to
go with a person's entire
wardrobe ... Next thing
in a home to go with tie
racks, belt racks, shoe
racks, etc.... could be a
glasses rack.
Wouldn't that really be
something . . . Dr. Harold
Roland doesn't think the
thought is too far-fetched
. . . and in talking with some
folks, they don't either.
JULES AND ROSE
FAYNE drove to Boca Ra-
ton, Fla., for a two-month-
stay . Each night when
stopping at a motel along
the way, they'd call one of
their three children,
Michael, Ronnie or Wendy,
to let them know where they
were and that all was well.
One night they called
Ronnie and daughter-in-
law Linda, and their
4-year-old daughter Kim-
berlee answered the phone
. . . Hearing Jules' voice she
asked, "Grandpa Jules,
where are you?" . . . He told
her he was in Macon, Ga.. . .
She called out to Linda,
"Mommy! Mommy!
Grandpa Jules is makin'
Georgia!"
STATE REP Joe Forbes
would have "declared war
on Japan" . . . if he hadn't
gotten his new Sony televi-
sion- set together last. week
at home in Oak Park . . . "It
came with very simple in-
structions on how to set the
stations," said Joe, who at
the time didn't know when
he would ever be able to use
the set.
