Active Zionist Rose Lewis,
Aided Most Jewish Causes

Rose Lewis, -a Detroit
resident for nearly half a
century, who has been a
familiar figure in a score of
local movements, died
Saturday.
Miss Lewis was born in
Germany and came to this
country with her parents at
an early age.
With her sister, Mrs. Ab-
raham (Norma) Hudosh,
and her brother, the late
P .9,w
- is, Miss Lewis had
;active in the Zionist
Organization of Detroit.
She took a deep inter-
est in the Kalvarier Aid
Society in which her par-
ents were pioneer mem-
bers, and she aided stu-
dents from Kalvaria,

Lithuania, financing one
of them to get his medical
degree in California.
She responded to many
causes and was associated,
in addition to ZOD and Kal-
varier, with Hadassah (life
member), Jewish National
Fund, Pioneer Women, Miz-
rachi, United Hebrew
Schools, American Jewish
Congress, National Home
for Jewish Children in De-
nver.
Besides her sister, Miss
Lewis leaves two nephews,
four nieces, grandnieces,
grandnephews and two
great-grandnieces.

ROSE BAUM, 81, died
Feb. 27. She leaves two
daughters, Mrs. Robert
(Dale) Redmond of Haure
De Grace, Md., and Mrs.
Harold (Barbara) Lampcov
of Willowdale, Ont.; a sister,
Mrs. Genevieve Morris of
Florida; and eight
grandchildren.
