the best hostesses around,

weeks is highly efficient
and very experienced Anita

The dinner presentation
is different, too, at Sussex

fish, well prepared ... and
our waitress was pleasant,
courteous and smiling

The Sussex House has
always been among the
most beautiful and well-

wood and red colorings.

Of The Monkey ... -and
Chinese restaurants all
over celebrated in their own
fashion . . . Hoa Kow on
Nine Mile in Oak Park had
a private party for friends
and city officials ... with a
menial that told about "The
monkey — 1908, 1920,
1932, 1944, 1956, 1968,
1980. . . People who are
born under the sign of the
monkey are intelligent,
witty, inventive, affable,
independent, skillful in
business, lucid, nimble,
passionate, youthful,
clever, opportunistic and
scrupulous."
Hoa Kow served Far Gow
Sosh Hong (Shark fin soup),
Sal Mai (Chinese dumpl-
ings filled with shrimp and
meat), Toy Ny Noi Sing Pon
(fried milk filled with
-shrimp), Jar Soon Chew
Sum Sui (shredded meat
with shrimp and bamboo
shoots), Sai Op (Cantonese
duck), Lin Moon Gai (lemon
chicken), Young Chew
Chow Fun (a mixture of
fried rice with all kinds of
meat) and mixed fruits pud-
ding that included the very
delicious bean cakes that
look and taste like gelatin.
CHARLEY'S RAW
BAR and Seafood Restau-
rant in the Hotel Pontchart-
rain now has a new, elegant
flair . . . after the Chuck
Muer restaurant under-
went a four-day remodeling
session.
The changes have added a
touch of sophistication to
the restaurant's "Down
East" decor and menu ... In
addition to broiled lobster,
the Raw Bar now has lobs-
ter American and lobster
Newburgh . . . plus char-
grilled or poached fresh fish
as well as broiled.
Char-grilled duck in
honey-brandied sauce is an-
other new creation by
Executive Chef Larry Pag-
liara and Pontch Chef
Simon Pes.usich . . . Also
new to the menu is Dover
sole meuniere (butter and
parsley sauce) and linguini
in white clam, red clam or
mussel sauce.
The raw bar, always
heaped with shrimp, oys-
ters, and clams, remains,
but the salad bar is re-
placed by additional sea-
ting, raising the restau-
rant's capacity to 150
diners.
Most of the marine and
seafood paintings and an-
tiques collected by Chuck
Muer are still on display in
the raw bar ... Others went
on loan to some of the 11
other Chuck Muer restau-
rants in Michigan, Ohio,
Pennsylvania, Florida and
Colorado.

Inflation Fighter

NEW YORK (ZINS) —
The New York Times Inter-
national Survey has con-
cluded that the population
of Israel has not been too
badly hurt economically,
despite galloping inflation.
The survey reports that
lower salaries, most bank
deposits and Overnment
bonds are tied to the cost-
of-living index.

The greatest asset of any
nation is the spirit of its
people, and the greatest
danger that can menace any

nation is the breakdown of
that spirit — the will to win
and the courage to work.
