JERUSALEM (JTA) —
President Yitzhak Navon
and Egypt's Ambasgador
Saad Mortada both stressed
their countries' "faithful
adherence" to the letter and
spirit of the peace treaty at a
ceremony Tuesday marking
the envoy's presentation of
credentials. This "meticul-
ous fidelity," said Navon,
"might well serve as an
example to others."
"Egypt," said the ambas-
sador, "has faithfully
adhered, and will continue
to adhere to all her obliga-
tions in accordance with the
letter and spirit of these
agreements with the aim of
strengthening peace and es-
tablishing good neighborly
relations."

The Egyptian Em-
bassy, temporarily
housed on the 12th floor
of the Tel Aviv Hilton,
was to open for business
Tuesday afternoon. The
visas section, on the
ground floor, was being
readied for its service to
the public, and the
foreign ministry in
Jerusalem announced
Tuesday, accordingly,
that it was closing its
temporary Egyptian
visas .section that has
been issuing visas on be-
half of Cairo these past
few months.
Israel's Ambassador to
Egypt Elihu Ben-Elissar
presented his credentials to
President Anwar Sadat
Tuesday.
Ben-Elissar said he was
bringing the message of
peace to the Egyptian
people. He said the settle-
ments are very important to
Israel, but they should not
be regarded as hurdles or a
difficulty on the road to a
final settlement.
In a related development,
the controversy over who
will be Ben-Elissar's pri-
vate secretary remained
unresolved as the first Is-
raeli Ambassador to Egypt
arrived in Cairo Sunday,
accompanied by Fanny
Ashkenazi, his personal
secretary for the past seven
years.
The exchange of am-
bassadors was protested
in Khartoum, where
stone-throwing demon-
strators shouted slogans
against Egyptian
President Sadat, calling
him a traitor.
In a related development,
Lotusair, the auxiliary air-
line established with the
normalization of relations
between Israel and Egypt
remains a mystery.
According to the New
York Times, Lotusair has
no offices yet, no ticket-
reservation facilities and no
airplanes.
An Egyptian lawyer in-
volved in setting up the new
company said, "The time is
not yet right for people to
know about us, but Lotus
(air) will fly to Tel Aviv on
March 5."
