Student Pledges

NEW YORK — One
hundred twenty-two college
students, representing 92
American campuses, cli-
maxed the United Jewish
Appeal December Students'
Leadership Mission to Is-
rael by pledging $13,117 to
the UJA Campaign.
This figure, the most ever
pledged during a UJA Stu-
dent Mission, included
S2 848 for Project Renewal.

Deanna Sperka will de-
liver the last of her two
talks on "The World of
Jewish Art" 9 p.m. Wednes-
day at United Hebrew
Schools.
The lecture is part of the
Mini-Mester series spon-
sored by the Midrasha Col-
lege of Jewish Studies and
the Metropolitan Detroit
Chapter of Hadassah.

Lemon-Honey
Chicken Recipe

Broiled chicken is easy to
make and with a honey-
lemon sauce has an appeal-
ing flavor. Use about 3
pound broilers.

2 broilers cut into quarters

2 tbsps. lemon juice
V4 tsp. black pepper
V2 cup honey
1 stick unsalted margarine
V. tsp. garlic powder
Y4 tsp. onion powder
Sprinkle both sides of the
chicken with lemon juice and
pepper. Mix honey with re-
maining spices. Brush chic-
ken on one side with spiced
honey. Broil honey side up for
15 minutes. Turn chicken and
brush honey on other side.
Broil 15 minutes or until ten-
der. Serves 4-6.

Scholarships

The Department of
Michigan, Jewish War Vet-
erans, is making available
three annual Michigan col-
lege scholarships in the
amount of $300 each.
There are no restrictions
as to race, color, religion,
sex or creed. Any veteran of
the American Armed
Forces, his or her son or
daughter, is eligible. Need
for financial assistance
should be paramount.
Applicants may include
students attending accre-
dited institutions of higher
learning on a college level
as well as members of the
January or June 1980 high
school graduating classes.
The qualified student
should send a letter request-
ing scholarship information
and forms to: Scholarship
Committee, 16990 W. 12
Mile, Southfield, 48076.
Application deadline is
April 25.

Eleanor Medoff, president
of the National Ladies Aux-
iliary Jewish War Veterans
of the United States, will
lead a delegation to Israel
March 2.

The group will visit the
Chaim Sheba Medical Cen-
ter where Mrs. Medoff will
make presentations for the
purchase of medical equip-
ment and nurses schol-
arships. The organization
recently funded a medical
library at the medical cen-
ter, where the delegation
will also be honored at a
luncheon. .

Ruth Marcus has been
named manager of
Habonim Camp Tavor. An
elementary school teacher,
Mrs. Marcus teaches cook-
ing and needlecraft in the
afternoon school program at
Akiva Hebrew Day School.
