MAIL DEPT. . . . "We
recently moved to Los
Angeles from the Southfield
area, where we had lived for
quite some time (all our
lives). We certainly don't
miss the cold weather, but
do miss the camaraderie of
people from our area.
"We have some family out
here but would like to know
if you knew of a club for
ex-Detroiters — people who
have relocated. My aunt
told me of a Detroiters Club
with older people which
may no longer be in exist-
ence. We're in our mid-30s
and would be interested in
anything you could tell us.

JULY 30, 1965 . . .
"Charles Fields had good
reason for jumping with joy
when he couldn't find his
golf ball after teeing off on
the 18th hole at Lancaster
Hills ... It was already in
the cup! . . . Chuck had
scored a hole-in-one on the
120-yarder ... The ace be-
came contagious ... Next
day, neighbor Paul Rein,
across the street on
Hartwell, shot a 130-yard
hole-in-one at Rackham."
AUG. 20, 1965 ... "Dr.
Robert Drews tells about
the man visiting a psychiat-
rist because he thought he
was Colonel Nasser ... The
head-shrinker assured him
that is wasn't too serious a
delusion . . . 'A lot you
know,' moaned the man. 'I
happen to be Jewish.' "
AUG. 27, 1965 ... "Sally
Fields of El Al Airlines likes
this one about the little old
lady who got on a plane for
the first time and com-
plained her ears felt funny
. . . The stewardess gave her
some Chiclets and said they
would help ... When they
landed, the stewardess
asked if that had alleviated
the popping ... 'Yes, it cer-
tainly did, but it was pretty
messy trying to get the gum
out of my ears.' "

GENEVA (JTA) — The
United Nations Human
Rights Commission adopted
a two-part draft resolution
last week that condemns Is-
raeli policies and practices
in the occupied Arab ter-
ritories — including East
Jerusalem — as "war
crimes and an affront to
humanity" and demands
the return of displaced
Palestinians and others to
their homes and property.
The second section of the
resolution, Part B, was
adopted by a 28-1 margin
with 10 abstentions in the
roll-call vote, and the first
section, Part A, by a vote of
28-3 with eight abstentions.
The United States was
the only nation to vote
against Part B and was one
of three to vote against Part
A. The others were Canada
and Holland. Israel is not a
member of the Human
Rights Commission, but has
observer status.
The voting culminated
a week-long debate on Is-
raeli policies and prac-
tices in the occupied ter-
ritories.
Part A of the resolution
calls on Israel to take im-
mediate steps for the return
of the Palestinians and
other displaced inhabitants
of the occupied Arab ter-
ritories to their homes and
property.
Part B concerns the appli-
cation of the 1949 Geneva
