dinner will be in advance of

Rabbi Berel Shemtov,
regional director of
Chabad-Lubavitch, will
lead a delegation of Michi-
gan businessman and com-
munity leaders to New York
to join in the Lubavitch 30th
anniversary celebration.
The celebration will take
place Jan. 28 at Lubavitch
world headquarters in
Brooklyn. The day marks 30
years since the passing of
Rabbi Yosef Yitschak
Schneersohn, the previous
Lubavitcher Rebbe, and the
accession to leadership of
his son-in-law, Rabbi
Menachem Mendel
Schneerson, the present
Lubavitcher Rebbe.
Some 10,000 are expected
at the celebration. In addi-
tion to its official delega-
tion, Michigan Lubavitch
has chartered a bus to travel

Rabbi David Gordis to Be
Synagogue Guest Speaker
Rabbi David M. Gordis,
vice president of the Uni-
versity of Judaism, Los
Angeles, Calif. will be the
scholar-in - residence today
through Sunday at Adat
Shalom Synagogue.
Rabbi Gordis is the assis-
tant professor of Talmud
and dean of the University
college of studies in t .te Los
Angeles branch of the
Jewish Theological Semi-
nary of America.
He is the chairman of the
United Synagogue Council
on Jewish education and
chairman of various educa-
tional committees on the
West Coast for higher
Jewish education.
He has been dean of
students and instructor
in Talmud at the
Teacher's Institute of the
seminary in New York
and has taught at Bran-
deis University, Vassar
College and the Univer-
sity of California at Los
Angeles Law School. His
published works focus on
Jewish history, Talmud
rabbinics and education.

Is Dedicated
Two pieces of sculpture by
Arthur Schneider will be
dedicated at Shabat serv-
ices 8:30 p.m. today at Tem-
ple Beth Jacob.
The sculptures were do-
nated to the temple by Mr.
