Obstetrical and Gynecological Care
Program

Sinai Hospital provides the community with
a full-service obstetrical and gynecological
care program, including all phases of family
planning, genetic counseling, and prenatal,
delivery and postpartum care.
In addition, Sinai Hospital has a contractual
relationship with the Wayne County
Maternal and Infant Care Program to
provide prenatal, delivery and postpartum
care to patients who are on Wayne County
general assistance. Services to these patients
are also provided through the Shiffman
Clinic.
The Hospital is an integral part of the
Quadrangle perinatal care program and
shares in the Quadrangle pediatric teaching
program in neonatal intensive care. Sinai
houses a "level II" intermediate special care
nursery, which is staffed around the clock
with medical personnel trained in neonatal
intensive care. Sinai is equipped to handle
"high risk" deliveries where the mother

problems. As part of this, Sinai provides
24-hour anesthesiology coverage for high
risk or difficult deliveries.

Sinai has also been a forerunner in
conducting research in gynecological
disorders, and in the clinical applications of
the laser research in gynecological surgery.

Cardiovascular Care Program

There are several components to the
cardiovascular care program at Sinai
Hospital. Among these are cardiovascular
surgery, cardiology services, cardiac
catheterization and cardiac rehabilitation.

Sinai has been designated as the
cardiovascular surgical center for the
Quadrangle. As such, Sinai receives patients
for cardiovascular surgery from the
Quadrangle institutions, as well as other
area hospitals.
The Hospital's program in medical
cardiology serves as a tertiary referral center
for numerous hospitals in southeast
