Congress throughout the
United States.
Dr. Gurdus has con-
tributed to many publica-
tions dealing with the
Holocaust. Her art works
on the subject are in pub-
lic institutions and pri-
vate collections in the
United States and Israel.
Sixteen of these works,
published in a portfolio,
"They Didn't Live to
See,"- are now part of the
permanent collection of
Yad Vashem in
Jerusalem. To per-
petuate the memory of
their son, Robert
Michael, lost in the
Holocaust, the Gurduses
established a kindergar-
ten for children of Rus-
sian immigrants in
Natanya, Israel.
__"The Death Train" be-
comes the obsession of the
author's four-year-old son
whose fear is sealed in a
drawing included in her
book.
At 10 a.m. Nov. 12 (Sis-
terhood Day), Judith
Bruder, author of "Going to
Jerusalem," will speak on
But the Past Is the Present:
The Jewish Moment."
"Going to Jerusalem" is
Judith Bruder's humorous
first novel, giving us "The
Canterbury Tales." with
modern faces and voices. A
group of travelers is
encouraged by their guide,
Harry Bailley, to tell stories
to make their Passover trip
to Israel more enjoyable.
The 1 p.m. Nov. 12
speaker will be Max I.
Dimont. Dimont's first
book, "Jews, God and,
History," has sold 1.5 mil-
lion copies in 15 years.
Dimont's second book,
The Indestructible Jews,"
is now in its 12th printing.
His third work, "The Jews
in America," examines the
roots, history and destiny of
the American Jews.
Hadassah Education Day
at Book Fair, Nov. 13, will
begin at10 a.m. with Geral-
dine Stern, author of "Is-
raeli Women Speak Out."
Her topic is "Weighing Is-
raeli Women: On What
Scale?"
Her book is a candid
look at 10 Israeli women.
Their conversations with
Geraldine Stern allow us
to examine their feelings
about where they've
come from, their iden-
tities as women, and their
hopes for the Israeli
state.
