MARCELLA PER-
NELET WETHINGTON
came to the United States
July 30, 1964, from Jarnay,
France . . . which accounts
for her charming manners
and delightful accent.
She has been a waitress
since 1971 . . . and now
goes her smilingly atten-
tive, courteous and efficient
ways evenings at Shakes-
peare's Inn, Plymouth and
Telegraph . . . satisfying
customers in a most pleas-
ant style of graciousness.
Speaking of Shakes-
peare's Inn, which is under
the new ownership of Sam
Jarrus, former owner of the
Atrium, and Sam Agemy,
previous evening manager
at the London Chop House,
it is very possible that the
name may be retained . . .
with the previously pro-
posed new name Sam II
used only to identify Your
Hosts" . . . Personally, I
would say their full names
in this capacity would be
much more important than
Sam II . . . with the many
friends they've made
throughout the years.
Also, Shakespeare's
Inn is becoming more of &
seafood house than any-
thing else . . . Fresh fish
of all sorts is brought in
daily . . . not fresh fro-
zen, mind you . . . and
people are coming out by
the droves upon learning
of this prime asset.
Shakespeare's Inn is also
a true continental restau-
rant . . . plus the seafood,
steaks and chops . . . a lot of
the Middle East delicacies
like excellent fried kibbee is
made fresh in the kitchen by
Sam Jarrus himself.
Kathy Landis, pianist-
songstress among the best,
plays a lot of keyboard . . .
Wednesdays through
Saturdays from 7 p.m.
GREAT DANE on
Northwestern has not been
sold . . and is still owned
by Roy Marshall . . Sup-
posedly well-founded source
who gave this info turned
out to be not-so-well-
informed.
Carole Haskins, one of
the best chefs around, male
or female, is still doing a
wonderful job at the Great
Dane . . . continually re-
ceiving rave notices.
IN MANY IN-
STANCES, summer re-
placement waitresses who
couldn't take orders prop-
erly did more harm than
good at the restaurant
where they worked.
Many who thought they
were indispensable soon
learned how wrong they
were . . . No owner with an
investment wants to lose
money by customers not
coming back.
FUNNY GIRL opened
last Friday at Paradiso
Dinner Theater on Wood-
ward . . . starring Nancy
Gurwin Fridays and Satur-
days in the Fanny Brice role
. . . I certainly don't intend
to miss it . . . Raves by
people are already tremen-
dous. . . . Nancy Curwin is
usually very good in what-

I'll take the sure bet by say-

LOVING CUP opens
Wednesday at the Wel-
comer Inn on N. Main
(Rochester Rd.) in Roches-
ter.
This is the spot that fea-
tures complete French
dinners . . . and is where
the chef Marie Bertin and
her husband, manager
Michel Bertin, ply their
trade . . . They are the
former owners of Le Bor-
deaux on Livernois.
Loving Cup will entertain
Wednesday through Sun-
day. Welcomer Inn is three
blocks north of University
Dr.
CAN'T STAND restau-
rants where sweeping the
floor goes on while you eat
. . . and it is far from clos-
ing time . . . Latest offen-
der is an Oak Park deli . . .
in the morning.
FORMER Starboard
Tack and Eastman's Land-
ing on Orchard Lake Rd. is
now newly owned . . . and
called Darlin' Lilly's.
GOOD WAITRESS
DEPT.. . . Lynn Hayes at
Coco's, downstairs at the
Vineyards on Franklin and
Northwestern . . . person-
able and efficient.
Coco's is the former Bas-
tile Room of the Vineyards
