Rabbis Plan Holiday Appeal for State of Israel Bonds
Members of the Rabbini-
cal Commission of Greater
Detroit met recently with
Rabbi Shragai Cohen, na-
tional director of Israel
Bonds' synagogue activi-
ties, to plan greater Jewish
community mobilization in
support of Israel's Economic
Development for Peace
Loan.
Calling the peace loan
campaign "vital to the peace
process, Rabbi Cohen
stated that synagogue
dinners and High Holy Day
appeals on behalf of Israel
Bonds "are the backbone of
the crucial loan dollar cam-
paign geared toward help-
ing Israel complete a vast
building program which
must be completed by
1982."
He advised the rabbis
that, in appreciation of out-
standing participation,
synagogues raising $25,000
or more during High Holy
Day appeals will receive
specially commissioned, in-
dividually signed, 10-color
lithographs by noted artist
Phillip Ratner, depicting
"and they shall beat their
swords into plowshares and
their spears into pruning-
