Henry Rose, 73

Henry Rose, president of
Robert Rose Jewelers in
- Rochester since its incep-
tion four years ago, died
Aug. 25 at age 73.
Born in Poland, Mr. Rose
lived 58 years in Detroit. He
started with the family
business, Rose Jewelers,
founded by his father,
Nathan Rose, in 1908. The
younger Mr. Rose started
his own jewelry chain,
Peacock Jewelers in 1939,
after having worked in the
zly business since age

reacock Jewelers ex-
panded to three stores in
Detroit before Mr. Rose be-
came president of Robert
Rose Jewelers. He was a
member of Temple Beth El
and the Wabeek Country
Club.
He leaves his wife, Rose
R.; a son, Robert; two
daughters, Mrs. Robert
(Sondra) Schwartz and Mrs.
Peter (Carol) Trepeck; a
brother, Emil; and six
grandchildren.

Jack Yura, 85

Jack Yura, co-founder
and co-owner of Campus
Men's Wear in Grosse
Pointe and Birmingham,
died Aug. 24 at age 85.
Born in Poland, Mr. Yura
lived 58 years in Detroit. He
owned his company for 30
years and retired five years
ago. He had been in the re-
tail men's wear business for
51 years. He was a member'
of Adat Shalom Synagogue.
Mr. Yura leaves a son,
Irving; two daughters,
Dorothy and Mrs. Ted (Mar-
ion) Heideman of Louis-
ville, Ky.; five
grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren.

Sanford A. Rothman, or-
ganizer and first comman-
der of the Pfc. Joseph L.
Bale Post 474 of the Jewish
War Veterans, died Aug. 27
at age 73.
Born in Cleveland, Mr.
Rothman lived 10 years in
Detroit prior to returning to
Cleveland. He commanded
the Bale Post in 1946-1947.
He helped organize and
build the Jewish War Vete-
rans Memorial Home.
A grove in the Kennedy
Peace Forest in Israel is
planted in honor of Mr.
Rothman and his first wife,
Ida. While in Detroit, Mr.
Rothman was a member of
Adat Shalom Synagogue.
He is survived by his wife,
Molly; two daughters, Mrs.
Leonard (Elaine) Simon of
Rochester, N.Y., and Mrs.
Eugene (Ruth) Salesin of
Rochester, N.Y.; two sisters,
Mrs. William (Rose) Palmer
of Cleveland and Mrs. Al
(Frieda) Manovill of New
York City; and seven
grandchildren. Interment

Belle Horenstein, former
co-owner with her husband
of Max's Delicatessen in
Southfield, died Aug. 24 at
age 60.
Born in Poland, Mrs.
Horenstein worked at the
delicatessen from 1966 to
1978.
She leaves her husband,

nard, Calif.; a daughter,
Mrs. Cary (Jacquelyn)
