Election Promise

ORT Training
for British?

CHICAGO (ZINS) — The
Zionist Organization of
America has released corre-
spondence from the 1976
presidential campaign in
which Jimmy Carter
"wholeheartedly endorsed"
a de facto alliance between
the U.S. and Israel.

NEW YORK — A World
ORT Union team was in
London recently to study
operational possibilities for
implementing the Lambeth
Report.

The report was under-
taken by the World ORT
Union on behalf of the
British Manpower Services
Commission to look into the
possibilities of using ORT
techniques in training un-
employed British youth.

- GEORGE YOUNG and
The Youngsters are not to-
gether . . . different name
. . . but reason folks haven't
been able to find his former
boys is because they go
under the title of "Dennis
Rome And Company" .. .
working at Oak Barrell,
Seven Mile near Grand
River . . . From George's
former group are John
Karan and Ron De Marco.
George got a bit away
from the band business for
awhile and became a pro-
ducer and writer . . . You
still see him in commercials
hereabouts . . . and he has a
small part in the upcoming
NBC movie, "Jimmy -B and
Andre" that stars Alex Kar-
ras, about Jimmy But-
sicaris of Lindell A.C.
He hasn't given up on
show business . . . and one of
the shows George has been
working on for quite a while
is called the Game Show .. .
to be shown at Northland
Shopping Center Thursday
through July 15 . . . It's the
first time ever anywhere for
a "live" game show as this
will be presented . . . The
give-a-way fun will be
Thursday and July 13, 2 to
7, and July 14-15, 1 to 3.
at
FUNNY GIRL
Paradiso Cafe on Woodward
opens Sept. 24 . . . with
producer-actress Nancy
Gurwin in the lead role, but
no tickets are available for
opening night . . . The
entire house has been
bought out by a Bnai Brith
group.
This promises to be
among the most successful
of all Nancy Gurwin Prod-
uctions . . . and with Nancy
as the star, it should be the
best . . . Nobody in the De-
troit area could even fill one
of Nancy's shoes in this role
that seems made for her.
Auditions for Funny
Girl will start Thursday, 4
to 8 p.m., and July 9, 5 to 9
p.m. . . . male and female
singers and dancers . . . at
Paradiso Cafe.
Sisterhood of Adat
Shalom is thinking about
presenting "Funny Girl"
with Nancy Gurwin at its
donor luncheon next spring
. . . Attendance is usually
around 600 and if they do
Funny Girl with Nancy, the
gals will have a great after-
noon.
I'm looking forward to se-
eing it at Paradiso.
NAME WILL be changed
at Northgate Deli, Green-
field at 10 Mile . . . and all
dinners will be $3.95.
BLARBYS IS new spot
. . . very unique . . . now
opened on Van Dyke be-
tween 13 and 14 Mile Rds.
. . . owned by Tess, Al and
Saul.. Burg . . . Is former
locale of Keg and I.
THANKS TO CHUCK
MUER, without his know-
ing about it . . . My birth-
day, Jan. 23, is target date
for his new Charley's Crab
to be opened in Palm Beach,
Fla. . . . on site of present
Willoughby Restaurant .. .
Possibility is that Palm
Beach Charley's Crab could

open before Jan. 23 . . . It'll
be on Worth Ave., one-half
block from the new Saks
Fifth Avenue.
Chuck's new family
tavern, the first of its kind
in Ohio, has been opened in
the Cleveland suburb of
Rocky River . . . Called
Westside Charley's, it
serves some fresh fish and
seafood plus a variety of a la
carte items from hambur-
gers, deli sandwiches and
salads to New York strip
steak, chicken Teriyaki and
barbequed ribs.
Westdale Charley's is lo-
cated on Center Ridge Rd.,
across from Westgate Shop-
ping Center . . . in the build-
ing formerly occupied by
The Old Austria Restau-
rant.

JERUSALEM (JTA) —
Foreign Minister Moshe
Dayan, who had a malig
nant tumor removed from
his intestines last- week was
scheduled to be discharged
from Tel Hashomer Hospi-
tal this week. His recovery
was described as "surpris-
ingly rapid."
Dayan was informed that
the tumor was cancerous,
but had not spread. His
physician, Dr. Boleslaw
Goldmann, indicated that
prospects for a full recovery
were very good.
Dayan said that had the
prognosis been otherwise he
would have resigned from
the government im-
mediately.
Dayan's case was said to
be the first in Israel where
the serious illness of a pub-
lic figure in high office was
immediately disclosed. The
late Premier Golda Meir
was under treatment for
Hodgkins Disease, a form of
cancer, for 15 years un-
known to the public.
