An Open Letter To Detroit Jewry

American Jewry is being challenged today, more than ever, to retain its
Jewish identity. We believe Yeshiva University is unique in its proven
ability to develop resources to answer this challenge. We want to tell you
about some of them.

Intermarriage, a 45% drop in Jewish School enrollment, the increasing
appathy of the Jewish family, are eroding the quality of Jewish life. Yeshiva
University has produced 14,000 alumnai, living viable Jewish lives, and
actively part of their Jewish communities.

Jewish schools need skilled teachers and administrators. Yeshiva Uni-
versity continues to produce more American Jewish educators than any
source outside of Israel.

Informal. Jewish education is now accepted as a necessary tool to de-
velop Jewishly aware youth. In 25 years, Yeshiva University's encampment
programs from California to Australia and study-tours to Israel have
reached 23,000 alienated young Jews.

Jewihly sensitive staff are a must for our community agencies.
Yeshiva University has America's only school of so _ cial work which includes
the study of Jewish issues as an integral part of its curriculum. It's 2500
graduates now work in Federations and other Jewish agencies throughout
North America.

With extensive undergraduate and graduate programs in Law, Ac-
counting, Psychology, Medicine, Jewish Studies, and more: With pioneering
research in geriatrics, mental retardation, cancer, diabetieS, and other sci-
entific and social science diciplines: Yeshiva University is American Jew-
ry's proud contribution to western life.

As you know, Irwin and Sadie Cohn will receive Yeshiva University's
Heritage Award at a dinner at Congregation Shaarey Zedek on the evening
of Wednesday, June 13. We hope you will join us in honoring them and
Yeshiva University.
