Reform Appeal Dinner Due

Alvin Wasserman, com-
munal leader and busi-
nessman, will be honored
for services to the Reform
Jewish community at a
dinner-dance at 6:30 p.m.
Sunday at Temple Beth El.
The dinner, under the au-
spices of the Metropolitan
Detroit Federation of Re-
form Synagogues, will serve
as a benefit for the Reform
Jewish Appeal (RJA).
Wasserman will be hon-
ored with the presentation
of an antique object from the
Union of American Hebrew
Congregations and the He-
brew Union College-Jewish
Institute of Religion, the
two major beneficiaries of
RJA.

Coming here from New
York to make the pre-
sentation will be Rabbi
Daniel B. Syme, director
of the UAHC's Commis-
sion on Education.
Paul J. Dizik of Temple
Beth El is dinner chairman,
with Mrs. Dizik, Rabbi
David Hachen, Bernard E.
Linden and Mrs. Marshall
Miller serving as co-

Vandals defaced two sides
of Adat Shalom Synagogue
with black spray paint on
Friday night.

Leemon,
president of Adat Shalom,
said a similar incident on a
smaller scale happened Feb.

In Friday's incident,
vandals sprayed a back-
wards swastika, the
words "Hitler rules,"
sexual references and a
reference to a hal-
lucinogenic drug on the
east and north walls of
the building.
Leemon said similar van-
dalis-m occurred Friday
night at North Farmington
High School and at the
home of David Cohen in
Farmington Hills. Cohen

The Oakland County Pro-
secutor's Office on Wednes-
day charged a 19-year-old
Southfield man and two
16-year-old girl students at
North Farmington High
School with the vandalism.
On Monday, Jim
McDonald of Quality Pres-
sure Washing and Waxing
in Garden City called the
synagogue and offered to
clean the walls free of
charge. On Tuesday,
Donald Robinson of the firm
cleaned the entire east wall
with hot water under pres-,
sure.
Robinson returned on
Wednesday to clean the
north wall with sand-
blasting equipment. The job
had an estimated cost of
$400.

Zionists Worried

NEW YORK (JTA) —
Warnings that the survival
of the American Jewish
community is threatened
and that the peace between
Israel and Egypt may bring
seriously divisive internal
problems to the surface in
Israel, were voiced at the
national convention of the
Emunah Women of
America at the Pine View
Hotel in Fallsburg, N.Y.,
over the weekend.
The Emunah Women are
a part of the World Reli-
gious Zionist Women's
Organization.

Envoy Resigning

WASHINGTON (JTA) —
Marvin L. Warner, a Cin-
cinnati industrialist and
Jewish community leader,
has resigned as U.S. Am-
bassador to Switzerland, ef-
fective July 15.
In his letter of resignation
to President Carter he cited
"compelling personal con-
siderations."

Graduation Services Listed

Adat Shalom's confirma-
tion ceremony will be held
8:30 p.m. today in the main
sactuary. The ceremony
will begin with the Kabalat
Shabat service chanted by
Cantor Larry Vieder. The
confirmands will partici-
pate in the service as well as
make a presentation com-
posed of original thought
and selected readings and
poems entitled "From Gen-
eration to Generation."
The confirmands being
honored by the congrega-
tion are: Marla Gold, Gail
Nachman, Nancy Rosen-
feld and Marcy York.
Following services a .re-
ception hosted by the
families of the confirmands
will be held in the social
hall.
Hillel Day School of
