Entebbe Victim Is Buried

JERUSALEM (JTA) — A
state funeral was held
Tuesday for Dora Bloch who
was murdered in Kampala,
Uganda, in July 1976, on
the orders of former
President Idi Amin.
Nissim,
Moshe
minister-without-portfolio,
who represented the goy --
ernment at the funeral,
said, "An order by a crazed,
tyrannical ruler put an end
to the life of Dora Bloch who
was guilty of no more than
going to attend the wedding
of her son."

The elderly woman was
a passenger on the Air
France jet hijacked to
Entebbe Airport in June
1976. She was hos-
pitalized in Kampala
when Israeli commandos
rescued most of her fel-
low hostages on July 3
and the next day was
dragged from her bed by
Amin's secret police and
murdered.
Mrs. Bloch held dual Is-
raeli and British citizenship
and was en route to London
to_attend the wedding of one
of her sons. Her remains
were found in a village near
Kampala with the coopera-
tion of the new Ugandan
authorities and were flown
to Igrael Sunday where a
pathologist made positive
identification.

WASHINGTON — The
ranking Republican on the
House Foreign Affairs
Committee, Michigan's
William S. Broomfield, was
a major supporter of the
legislation approved last
week by the House for aid to
Israel and Egypt following
the signing of their peace
agreement.
In a statement to the
House, Broomfield said the
special assistance
facilitates the peace treaty
between Egypt and Israel
and will help promote
further progress toward a
full and comprehensive
peace in the Middle East.
"This legislation
authorizes funds for two
air bases in Israel to re-
place those Israel must
evacuate in the Sinai, it
authorizes foreign mili-
tary sales credits for
Egypt and Israel to help
those two nations assure
their legitimate security
needs, and it authorizes
assistance for Egypt to
enable that nation to
meet some of its pressing
economic problems."
Broomfield added, "Like
other members of the com-
mittee, I am extremely con-
scious of the costs involved
for the United States in this
supplemental aid package
for Egypt and Israel. How-
ever, the program level of
$4.8 billion is not the only
relevant figure or cost-
indicator. As is pointed out

in the Committee report,
much of the aid is in the
form of loans rather than
grants . . . ."
